What a fun way to wrap up Red Ribbon Week at Oakdale! Our PreK–5th graders celebrated with a costume parade, while our 6th–8th graders enjoyed YOLO Polo! So many smiles, laughter, and memories made!
A HUGE thank-you to Mrs. McCarty, our middle school counselor, and Mrs. Sizemore, our elementary counselor, for all the time, hard work, and creativity they poured into making this week meaningful and fun for our students.
Red Ribbon Week is about more than the fun activities. It's an opportunity to help our students understand the importance of taking care of themselves, making healthy choices, staying safe, and having the confidence to say NO to drugs!
Thank you to our teachers, administrators, students, and parents for supporting this week and helping make it such a success!

👀🌿 Wait… Who’s That? I Can’t See You! 😂
Our Rockets are camoed out and ready to stay drug-free! 🪖💚 We’re hiding in plain sight, but standing strong when it comes to making healthy choices and saying NO to drugs! The students enjoyed three awesome assemblies with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN). Students learned about the dangers of drugs, the importance of having the courage to say NO to ALL drugs, and how OBN works to help keep our communities safe.
One important reminder: Parents, YOU are your child's biggest and best advocate! Keep the conversations going, encourage awareness, and remind your children that they never have to give in to peer pressure or accept something just because someone says it's okay.

🦋🌿 A BIG MILESTONE FOR OAKDALE OUTDOORS CLUB! 🚀
Our students tagged and released their first monarch butterfly! 🦋 Students carefully measured its wing length, recorded its gender and location, placed an identifying tag on the butterfly, and released it into our school garden. 🌼
We will submit data to Monarch Watch to help researchers track the fall migration and learn more about these incredible pollinators! 🌎🦋

Today, our Rockets dressed as superheroes to celebrate Red Ribbon Week and our theme, “Being a Hero, Be Drug Free!” 🦸♂️ Heroes set great examples by making healthy choices, saying NO to drugs, and doing the right thing—even when it’s not always easy! 💪❤️
💃 We also welcomed the Elevate Dance Crew for an exciting assembly with our 4th–8th graders. Through dance and movement, students were reminded to take care of their bodies, make healthy choices, and stay active so they can feel their best and do their best! 🎶✨

We were honored to welcome author Dusti Bowling back to Oakdale! Our 7th and 8th graders enjoyed hearing about her new YA novel, The Drowning Game, and learning the steps to becoming a writer. What a wonderful way to inspire our students to read, imagine, and explore their own storytelling abilities!
A special thank-you to Best of Books for bringing this author visit to Oakdale and to OSF for helping make it possible by purchasing multiple copies of The Drowning Game for our school library, giving students opportunities to check out the book and enjoy it through book clubs.

After diving into the story, students use their creativity to work by writing their own narratives imagining what it would be like to be a character at Camp Green Lake! 🏜️✏️
What better way to understand literature than to immerse yourself in the story? By combining reading and writing, students strengthen their comprehension, explore characters, and bring their own ideas to life.
