As former Oakdale band member Tanner Morgan said during Tuesday night’s performance — ‘It is magical.’ And magical it was! Over 40 alumni band members joined our 7th and 8th grade band for an unforgettable performance of The Greatest Showman.
The evening was also a heartfelt tribute to Mr. Scott, honoring his passion, time, and deep commitment to his students and the Oakdale community. Mr. Lanier stepped in as 'relief' for Dr. Johnson to reflect on Mr. Scott’s incredible legacy.
Mr. Scott was presented with a special trophy from Mr. Berryman — one to take home, and another to be placed in the school’s trophy case as a lasting tribute. Alumni student Chandler Morrison also awarded him a plaque on behalf of all former band members.
Mrs. Snyder closed the evening with a warm invitation for all to attend a reception at River Oaks, hosted by parents and community members, in celebration of Mr. Scott’s retirement.
Thank you, Mr. Scott, for your years of dedication. Your legacy will continue to inspire for years to come. Enjoy your well-earned retirement — you will be deeply missed!

Dear All,
Please join us for a surprise retirement party for Mr. Scott tomorrow, April 29, immediately following the 7th/8th Grade Band Concert at River Oaks Golf Course.
The celebration will run approximately from 7:15 PM to 9:30 PM.
Please keep it a secret — Mr. Scott has no idea!
We hope you can come help us celebrate his incredible career!

On Tuesday, the Oakdale faculty and staff came together to celebrate the retirement of two cherished members of our Rocket family — Bob Scott and Marlene Dunn. Their dedication, kindness, and impact on our school community have been truly remarkable. We wish them both the best as they begin this exciting new chapter — it’s so well deserved! Thank you for everything. Once a Rocket, always a Rocket! 🚀 #OakdaleFamily

Mrs. Reddick needs this year's Rocket Run shirt for their trip to Washington D.C. She still needs a few blue 2024 Rocket Run T-shirts for the 8th graders who are going to DC/NYC in a few weeks. We coordinate our shirts, but the 8th-grade T-shirt was black. If you are willing to donate yours, we need:
XS-3
S - 3
M - 5
You can email her at lreddick@oakdale.org to let her know if you have one.

You have two opportunities to witness Mr. Scott’s final performances conducting the Rocket Band! Join us on Tuesday, April 29, at 6 PM for an unforgettable evening featuring the 7/8 bands and jazz band, along with Oakdale alumni, and again on Thursday, May 1, at 6 PM for the 5/6 band. Don’t miss this special moment!

Dusti Bowling was so awesome, we just had to do TWO posts! 🙌📚
She led three dynamic, all-grade presentations and then spent a class period with Mrs. Rihn’s 7th-grade ELA class—bringing along skeletons of desert animals and answering a ton of thoughtful questions from students! 🦴🌵
To top it off, Dusti had lunch with Mrs. Jones and the students who had read Canyon’s Edge and Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus. They played bingo, decorated cactus cookies, and had some amazing conversations—she was fully engaged with every student and made the day unforgettable! 🎉🍪🎲
10/10 speaker and an even more incredible human being. We’re so grateful to OSF and our amazing Oakdale parents who helped make this opportunity possible.
THANK YOU! 💜

We had an amazing visit from author Dusti Bowling on MOnday!📚✨
She spoke to our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders with incredible enthusiasm, sharing highlights from the 11 books she’s written—and even gave us a sneak peek into a few that haven’t been published yet!
Not only was Dusti engaging, but she also guided each class through the step-by-step process she uses when writing and publishing a book. Her message about how her characters grow and change throughout their stories was both empowering and inspiring! 🌟
She reminded students that they are truly capable of big things—even when they might not believe it themselves. 💫
What an unforgettable visit full of encouragement, creativity, and motivation!
Thank you, Dusti, for encouraging our students to dream big and write bravely! 🖊️📖

The girl's golf team brought home 3rd place yesterday in their toughest tournament of the season! ⛳💪
All five team members shot their lowest rounds ever, showing incredible growth and perseverance. Special shoutouts to:
🏅 Sydnee Manwell – 3rd Place
🏅 Finley May – 6th Place
We’re so proud of their hard work, determination, and the progress they’re making. It’s truly paying off! 👏🎉

Olivia Key stepped into some big shoes today as 'Principal for the Day' alongside Mrs. Willhoite! From morning announcements to visiting with Dusti Bowling during author visit, helping with testing prep, and so much more — she rocked her role like a pro!
