📚✨ Inspiring Readers and Writers at Oakdale! ✨📚
We were honored to welcome author Dusti Bowling back to Oakdale! Our 7th and 8th graders enjoyed hearing about her new YA novel, The Drowning Game, and learning the steps to becoming a writer. What a wonderful way to inspire our students to read, imagine, and explore their own storytelling abilities!
A special thank-you to Best of Books for bringing this author visit to Oakdale and to OSF for helping make it possible by purchasing multiple copies of The Drowning Game for our school library, giving students opportunities to check out the book and enjoy it through book clubs.
We are grateful for these partnerships that continue to foster a love of reading and writing in our Rockets! 🚀📖

📚🚀 Reading, Writing, and Bringing Stories to Life!
After diving into the story, students use their creativity to work by writing their own narratives imagining what it would be like to be a character at Camp Green Lake! 🏜️✏️
What better way to understand literature than to immerse yourself in the story? By combining reading and writing, students strengthen their comprehension, explore characters, and bring their own ideas to life.
Way to go, sixth graders, and Mrs. Cone for making learning meaningful and fun! 📖
A huge thank-you to our amazing OSF for providing our sixth graders with a class set of Holes by Louis Sachar for their novel study!

👑 King George Has Entered the Classroom! 🎭
What better way to bring history to life than a visit from King George himself?! Our Civics students got a unique opportunity today to learn how HE might have felt when the colonies declared their independence. And to make the lesson even more memorable, Mr. Burns performed “You’ll Be Back” from the hit musical Hamilton! 🎶
Who says learning history can’t be entertaining? This creative combination of civics and the arts gave our students a fun, engaging way to connect with the past and see history from a different perspective. A special shout-out to Mr. Burns for bringing the performance to life and making learning an experience our Rockets won't soon forget! 🚀
Huge thanks to OSF for providing costumes, sound equipment, and support for our theatre program! Their generosity is another way OSF helps create incredible, memorable learning experiences for our Rockets! 🚀

Tuesday’s professional development looked a little different as the Oakdale Schools Foundation (OSF) and our Parent Teacher Club (PTC) took time to remind our faculty and staff just how much they are appreciated and how they serve the teachers and the students!
OSF President Amber Crosby and PTC President Chelsea Bixler shared the heart behind the incredible grants, experiences, and opportunities OSF and PTC work together to make possible for our students. These two organizations are a powerful team, working hand in hand to make Oakdale a special place to learn and grow! They also brought the ENERGY with some impressive dance moves and gave us a little hype about something exciting in the works! 👀🤫 We can’t share details just yet, but stay tuned!
A HUGE thank-you to OSF and PTC for reminding our teachers and staff that their hard work matters and that they are appreciated more than they know! ❤️
Once a Rocket, always a Rocket! 🚀

Our 7th graders had an exciting day at the University of Oklahoma, putting their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to the test! Working with OU engineering student leaders, students took on an engineering design challenge to build a roller coaster while staying within a budget of 900 SEED dollars. What a fun way to put engineering and budgeting into action!
Afterward, students toured part of the Stephenson Life Science Research Center, connecting their visit to our recently completed chemistry unit. They explored lab equipment, learned about student research projects, and saw the center’s amazing periodic table!
A HUGE thank-you to the Oakdale Schools Foundation (OSF) for making these hands-on learning experiences possible! An OSF grant also covered lunch on campus, making this educational adventure even more special.
Experiences like these bring classroom learning to life and inspire our Rockets to think like future scientists, engineers, and innovators! 🚀

Our 5th–8th grade Sequoyah Book Kickoff was full of creativity, discovery, and FUN! Our amazing teachers went above and beyond to bring books to life with a glow-in-the-dark escape room, science experiments, a classroom transformed into an underwater ocean, and four-sentence stories written by candlelight! Students even tested their balance to see who could last 8 seconds on a “bull” balance board. 🤠🔬🌊
The Oklahoma Historical Society added a special touch with a tub of fascinating artifacts from the 1940s, giving students a hands-on connection to history!
A huge thank-you to Mrs. Jones, our middle school librarian, for organizing this wonderful tradition that gets better every year! And reading is so important at Oakdale that Mr. Still, Mrs. Willhoite, Mrs. Sizemore, and Mr. Burns joined in by presenting books, too! ❤️💙Thank you to our teachers and administrators for making reading exciting and inspiring our Rockets to explore new stories, ask questions, and discover a lifelong love of reading!”
At Oakdale, we don’t just read stories—we bring them to life! 🚀📖

🌟 Together, we raised OVER $400 for childhood cancer! 🌟
