📚🚀 Reading, Writing, and Bringing Stories to Life!
After diving into the story, students use their creativity to work by writing their own narratives imagining what it would be like to be a character at Camp Green Lake! 🏜️✏️
What better way to understand literature than to immerse yourself in the story? By combining reading and writing, students strengthen their comprehension, explore characters, and bring their own ideas to life.

Way to go, sixth graders, and Mrs. Cone for making learning meaningful and fun! 📖
A huge thank-you to our amazing OSF for providing our sixth graders with a class set of Holes by Louis Sachar for their novel study!

👑 King George Has Entered the Classroom! 🎭
What better way to bring history to life than a visit from King George himself?! Our Civics students got a unique opportunity today to learn how HE might have felt when the colonies declared their independence. And to make the lesson even more memorable, Mr. Burns performed “You’ll Be Back” from the hit musical Hamilton! 🎶
Who says learning history can’t be entertaining? This creative combination of civics and the arts gave our students a fun, engaging way to connect with the past and see history from a different perspective. A special shout-out to Mr. Burns for bringing the performance to life and making learning an experience our Rockets won't soon forget! 🚀

Huge thanks to OSF for providing costumes, sound equipment, and support for our theatre program! Their generosity is another way OSF helps create incredible, memorable learning experiences for our Rockets! 🚀

🚀 A Little Out-of-This-World Learning at Oakdale! 🥔👩‍🚀 Our 6th and 7th graders had an exciting visit today from Dr. Risenhoover, Mrs. DeLuca’s mother, who shared her knowledge about astronaut EVA (Extravehicular Activity) suits! 🌎✨ After learning about the specialized suits astronauts wear to protect themselves in the harsh environment of space, students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test by designing and building a spacesuit for a potato! 🥔🧑‍🚀 Who knew a potato could be ready for a spacewalk?! What a fun, hands-on way to bring science and engineering to life! A big thank-you to Dr. Risenhoover for sharing her knowledge and inspiring our future scientists and engineers! ❤️🚀 Go Rockets! #ProudToBeARocket

❤️🚀 A LITTLE APPRECIATION, A LOT OF ROCKET PRIDE! 🚀❤️
Tuesday’s professional development looked a little different as the Oakdale Schools Foundation (OSF) and our Parent Teacher Club (PTC) took time to remind our faculty and staff just how much they are appreciated and how they serve the teachers and the students!

OSF President Amber Crosby and PTC President Chelsea Bixler shared the heart behind the incredible grants, experiences, and opportunities OSF and PTC work together to make possible for our students. These two organizations are a powerful team, working hand in hand to make Oakdale a special place to learn and grow! They also brought the ENERGY with some impressive dance moves and gave us a little hype about something exciting in the works! 👀🤫 We can’t share details just yet, but stay tuned!

A HUGE thank-you to OSF and PTC for reminding our teachers and staff that their hard work matters and that they are appreciated more than they know! ❤️

✨💚 WE GLOWED WHAT WE KNOW! 💚✨
The day before break, Mrs. Towne’s fourth graders walked into a surprise glow-in-the-dark math classroom transformation! 🌟🧮

Our Rockets lit up the room as they used highlighters to review the fourth-grade math skills they’ve learned so far. Their hard work earned them some glowing art time, and each class period ended with a fun dance party! 💃🕺

Who says learning math can’t be a bright idea? 😉 These students proved that learning, creativity, and a little glow-in-the-dark fun make an unforgettable combination!

Another example of how OSF supports every classroom experience possible! ❤️

📚☀️ Book Buddies + Outdoor Fun = Sweet Memories! ☀️📚 Our Book Buddies got to enjoy some outdoor playtime today! What a sweet, long-standing tradition that brings students together through the love of reading. ❤️ Book Buddies is about more than sharing a book. It builds connections across grade levels, encourages younger readers, and gives older students the opportunity to lead by example. It’s a wonderful reminder that reading matters at every age and that learning from one another can be just as meaningful as learning from a book. We love seeing these friendships grow and watching our Rockets shine as readers, leaders, and role models! 🚀📖 #ProudToBeARocket

🚀 7th Grade Takes Engineering to OU! 🔬
Our 7th graders had an exciting day at the University of Oklahoma, putting their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to the test! Working with OU engineering student leaders, students took on an engineering design challenge to build a roller coaster while staying within a budget of 900 SEED dollars. What a fun way to put engineering and budgeting into action!

Afterward, students toured part of the Stephenson Life Science Research Center, connecting their visit to our recently completed chemistry unit. They explored lab equipment, learned about student research projects, and saw the center’s amazing periodic table!

A HUGE thank-you to the Oakdale Schools Foundation (OSF) for making these hands-on learning experiences possible! An OSF grant also covered lunch on campus, making this educational adventure even more special.

Experiences like these bring classroom learning to life and inspire our Rockets to think like future scientists, engineers, and innovators! 🚀

📚🚀 SEQUOYAH BOOK KICKOFF: READING COMES TO LIFE! 🚀📚
Our 5th–8th grade Sequoyah Book Kickoff was full of creativity, discovery, and FUN! Our amazing teachers went above and beyond to bring books to life with a glow-in-the-dark escape room, science experiments, a classroom transformed into an underwater ocean, and four-sentence stories written by candlelight! Students even tested their balance to see who could last 8 seconds on a “bull” balance board. 🤠🔬🌊
The Oklahoma Historical Society added a special touch with a tub of fascinating artifacts from the 1940s, giving students a hands-on connection to history!

A huge thank-you to Mrs. Jones, our middle school librarian, for organizing this wonderful tradition that gets better every year! And reading is so important at Oakdale that Mr. Still, Mrs. Willhoite, Mrs. Sizemore, and Mr. Burns joined in by presenting books, too! ❤️💙Thank you to our teachers and administrators for making reading exciting and inspiring our Rockets to explore new stories, ask questions, and discover a lifelong love of reading!”

At Oakdale, we don’t just read stories—we bring them to life! 🚀📖

🚀🥚 Houston, We Have an Eggstronaut! 🥚🚀
Mrs. Pitt’s Rocketry Club students took on an egg-citing engineering challenge! Their mission was to design and build a rocket capsule that would protect their eggstronaut during launch and landing.
Students modified 2-liter bottles by adding fins, a nose cone, and a protective capsule before launching their water bottle rockets!
Through hands-on experimentation, students put their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to the test. What a fun way to bring STEM learning to life! 🚀🥚
